Gemstones,
in particular the four "precious" stones diamonds,
rubies, sapphires and emeralds are the oldest known way to store,
concentrate, transfer and increase wealth or in other words
to invest, while at the same time one can also enjoy wearing them.
However not each and every diamond, ruby, sapphire or emerald should
be regarded as a potential form of investment. To be regarded as
a potential form of investment, gemstones have to fulfill three
criterias of perfection, which are as follows:
· Natural gemstones: We refer to natural gemstones.
Gems which are free of any intervention made by humans apart of
cutting and polishing. Therefore certificates issued by wellknown
gemmological laboratories should accompany all gems.
· Quality: When we refer to gems as a form of investment
we only mean the good to very fine qualities in gemstones.
· Size: We only suggest to gems of a certain size.
For example a sapphire, regarded as investment, should be
at least 2 or 3 carats, even if the gem is natural and of
fine quality. Rubies and diamonds should be 1 carat
up.
RESUME : The combination of the three characteristics mentioned
above ensures that the gem is RARE.
Rarity is a very important factor when considering a gemstone
as a form of investment, something rare and beautiful will always
find a buyer.
